Sydney and Franky’s wedding day at The Maine of Williamsburg was relaxed, joyful, and centered around a butter yellow palette with white florals, letting the venue itself bring in much of the color throughout the day. With a ceremony on The Grand Porch, a reception in the Main Hall, and a timeline that allowed them to actually enjoy their guests, their day was a perfect example of why this venue is such a great choice for couples getting married in Williamsburg. As a The Maine of Williamsburg wedding photographer, I get to document how effortlessly this venue supports a relaxed, guest-focused wedding day.

Why The Maine of Williamsburg Is So Loved by a Wedding Photographer

The Maine of Williamsburg offers a level of flexibility that allows couples to stay present throughout the day, and Sydney and Franky leaned into that fully. They kept their timeline intentional and relaxed, giving themselves space to celebrate big while still enjoying meaningful moments with their guests.

Next was a super emotional first look with her dad where she gifted him a photo of them together from when she was young in the shape of a heart for him to carry in his chest pocket.

A Ceremony on the Grand Porch at The Maine of Williamsburg

The ceremony took place on the Grand Porch at The Maine of Williamsburg, a space that fit Sydney and Franky’s day beautifully. It was an ideal choice for a summer wedding, giving their guests plenty of room to gather comfortably and allowing the ceremony to feel open and outdoors. The covered porch also offered peace of mind in case of inclement weather, letting them fully focus on the moment without worrying about the forecast.

Sydney and Franky chose to skip a first look and instead see each other for the first time as Sydney walked down the aisle. That decision made the ceremony feel especially meaningful, with the moment unfolding naturally in front of their closest family and friends.

Their wedding party included four bridesmaids and four groomsmen. The bridesmaids wore Azazie dresses in Lemon Sorbet, tying in softly with the butter yellow palette Sydney envisioned for the day. Paired with white florals and greenery, the overall look felt timeless and understated, allowing the day to feel personal, relaxed, and true to who Sydney and Franky are together.

Portraits Around The Maine of Williamsburg

After the ceremony, we began with family portraits, making sure those important groupings were photographed efficiently so everyone could move on to celebrating. The layout at The Maine of Williamsburg makes this part of the day feel calm and organized, which is especially helpful for keeping things stress-free for the couple and their families.

We then moved into wedding party photos with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. With four on each side, the group felt balanced and relaxed, allowing us to capture both classic portraits and more natural moments together.

I always like to get a photo of the bride and groom alone with each of their wedding party members!

One of the biggest benefits of getting married at The Maine of Williamsburg is how easy it is for couples to step away together without feeling pulled from their guests. After family and wedding party photos wrapped up, Sydney and Franky were able to move through different spots on the property for their portraits, keeping things unrushed while still giving them a quiet moment to be together on a full day.

They wanted their photos to feel natural and not overly posed, which paired perfectly with the variety of spaces available on site. The outdoor spaces around the venue allowed their portraits to feel timeless and true to them without needing to leave the property.

A photo that I feel is often forgotten on a wedding day is a solo shot of the groom, too!

A Reception in the Main Hall at The Maine of Williamsburg

Following the ceremony and portraits, guests transitioned into the Main Hall at The Maine of Williamsburg for the reception. The space works especially well for weddings that prioritize time together, allowing the evening to flow naturally from dinner into toasts and dancing without feeling rushed.

First Dances at The Maine of Williamsburg

Sydney and Franky shared their first dance to “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith, a moment that felt both intimate and fun, setting the tone for the rest of the night. Their focus was simple and intentional: spending time with their loved ones and enjoying every part of the celebration. Immediately after was her first dance with her father. You can see the love from the reactions of their loved ones in the background!

A Meaningful Bouquet Moment with a Fun Twist on Tradition

One of the most meaningful moments of the reception came when Sydney surprised her mom by gifting her bouquet as a thank-you for everything she did to help bring the day together. It was a heartfelt pause in the evening that felt incredibly genuine and emotional.

Later, instead of a traditional bouquet toss, Sydney opted for a t-shirt toss! I thought this was so fun and one of her bridesmaids was the lucky catcher!

A Private Last Dance Before the Send-Off

As the evening came to a close, Sydney and Franky took a moment for a private last dance together while their guests lined up outside for the bubble send-off. It’s one of my favorite ways that couples can pause and soak in the day, and it works especially well at The Maine of Williamsburg. My top advice to couples on their wedding day is to find moments where you can really take it all in together – just like this!

They then ended the night with a bubble send-off, a lighthearted and joyful way to close out the celebration and one I always love photographing. It keeps the energy relaxed, fun, and photographs beautifully!
